Quantum-CORMs: quantum dot sensitized CO releasing molecules.
The synthesis and photodecomposition behaviour of a family of CO releasing molecules (CORMs) based on [Mn(CO)3bpy] derivatives connected to a semiconductor Quantum Dot (QD) sensitizer is described here. Compared to the non-sensitized complexes, such systems show a 2 to 6-fold increase of the photodecomposition rate upon irradiation with visible light.
متن کاملQuantum Dot Sensitized Photoelectrodes
Quantum Dots (QDs) are promising alternatives to organic dyes as sensitisers for photocatalytic electrodes. This review article provides an overview of the current state of the art in this area. More specifically, different types of QDs with a special focus on heavy-metal free QDs and the methods for preparation and adsorption onto metal oxide electrodes (especially titania and zinc oxide) are ...
متن کاملQuantum Dot Sensitized Solar Cells
In response to rapidly increasing global energy demand, the development of alternative energy sources to fossil fuels has emerged as one of the most urgent technological challenges. Solar energy, which represents a nearly unlimited source of clean power, has been considered as one of the most promising new energy sources. In addition to the current success of silicon based solar cells, quantum ...
متن کاملQuantum Computer Using Coupled Quantum Dot Molecules
We propose a method for implementation of a quantum computer using artificial molecules. The artificial molecule consists of two coupled quantum dots stacked along z direction and one single electron. One-qubit and two-qubit gates are constructed by one molecule and two coupled molecules, respectively. The ground state and the first excited state of the molecule are used to encode the |0〉 and |...
متن کاملQuantum Dot Molecules for Quantum Cellular Automata: Future Quantum Computer
Ordered quantum dot molecules are grown by a modified MBE growth using thin-capping and regrowth processes. This technique yields QDs which are uniform and aligned along [11̄0] directions. This paper presents an attempt to group 4-5 dots per each quantum dot molecule, in order to form a physical structure that can function as quantum cellular automata, giving rise to the possibility of developin...
